Allocate a second or relief driver

Add an additional driver to the intended coach and journey leg without replacing the primary driver, then verify the whole crew.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Add an additional driver to the intended coach and journey leg without replacing the primary driver, then verify the whole crew.

Before you start

Dispatch Manage. The job must be live and editable; choose an active eligible driver who is not already on this leg. Specific VOR guards and viewing restrictions still apply.

  • A fictional confirmed job has a real coach slot with its first driver already assigned.
  • A second eligible demo driver is available; check required legs and office cover arrangements before recording the crew.

1

Open the correct journey leg

In Daily Planner, choose the date and open the journey’s details. Match the booking reference, route and leg. On a return or multi-day booking, adding a driver to one leg does not cover every other leg.

Check the screen for: Job reference, leg label, date and route.

2

Check the existing coach and driver

Find the coach slot and confirm the current driver is correct. Add second driver appears when the slot has both a coach and a driver. If either is missing, complete the normal allocation first.

Check the screen for: Coach slot, existing driver and Add second driver.

3

Choose the additional driver

Use Add second driver to choose the extra driver, then select Add 2nd driver. Check any time-off or scheduling warnings before moving on. A successful save does not mean every conflict has been resolved.

Check the screen for: Add second driver selector and Add 2nd driver.

4

Check that both drivers remain

Wait for the refreshed journey panel. You should see the original driver and the extra driver on the same coach, with the additional line marked second. If the crew is wrong, correct the specific line rather than adding another duplicate.

Check the screen for: Both driver chips, 2nd marker and coach.

5

Check other legs and ticket communication

Review the return and any other relevant legs separately. Then check the work ticket and use the usual ticket workflow to communicate the revised crew. Adding the allocation is not proof that the driver has received new instructions.

Check the screen for: Other leg crew and work-ticket destination.

Check it worked

  • The intended leg now has both drivers on the right coach, with any warnings checked. Other legs and the revised instructions still need their own verification.
