Before you start
Driver app Manage. The driver path records the signed-in user as the person checking; no drawn signature. Available checklists depend on the operator’s setup and entitlement.
- Be safely parked with the actual vehicle available to inspect. The lesson explains recording the check, not how to conduct a legally sufficient physical inspection.
- Use a fictional coach and approved demonstration checklist; stage one genuine-looking example defect photo without real identifying data.
Choose the vehicle and checklist
Open Checks, then Start walkaround. Choose the registration of the vehicle you are actually checking. If you are offered more than one checklist, select the correct one before starting.
Check the screen for: Coach picker and optional checklist chooser.
Inspect and answer each item
Work through the items as you inspect them. Choose Pass, Fail or N/A where appropriate. Nothing starts as a pass. Complete any measurement or sign-off fields, and use the vehicle’s displayed odometer unit.
Check the screen for: Unanswered item, Pass / Fail / N/A, odometer.
Describe the fault and add a photograph
For a failed item, describe what is wrong and where it is. Use Add photo to attach a clear view of the problem. A photograph supports your description; it does not replace a useful explanation.
Check the screen for: Failed item, What’s the problem?, Add photo and preview.
Review the declaration and submit
Check the answers and remaining-item count. Read the declaration and tick it only when it is true, then tap Submit walkaround. This records the declaration against your account, so never submit someone else’s check as your own.
Check the screen for: Remaining count, declaration and Submit walkaround.
Check whether it reached DTE
Open the saved check and verify the registration, time, answers and photographs. A saved-offline message is not proof that the office has received it. Reconnect and confirm the check appears as a submitted record.
Check the screen for: Saved record versus no-signal queue message.
Follow up any defects
A submitted failed answer raises a defect and can put the vehicle off road. Follow your operator’s defect procedure and speak to the responsible person before using the vehicle; an upload is not permission to drive it.
Check the screen for: Defects found outcome and recorded failed item.
Check it worked
- You should have a submitted check for the correct vehicle, with your answers and defect evidence intact. Any upload problem or unresolved fault still needs follow-up.
